ABOUT ABOUT

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO GET MOVING ON YOUR MAT! ------

Daily, 11:30am Monday 4/20 through Friday 4/24. Join me as I walk you through how to start your own Yoga practice from the comfort of home!  I'll break down each pose, show you options to modify or intensify poses, answer questions and get you moving.
If you've ever been even a little bit curious about Yoga - you'll want to sign up for this course!  Discover the mind & body benefits of a regular yoga practice. Best of all: you'll pay nothing! Classes are free through the end of April.

What to expect from the INTRO TO YOGA 5-day course:
We will be practicing a style called of Yoga known as Vinyasa or "flow."
In this style of Yoga we move at a steady pace, as opposed to holding each pose for an extended period of time.
You'll receive the biggest benefit by attending all 5 classes, as you'll be learning new skills & poses each day.  If your schedule won't allow you to attend all 5 - that's fine!  Better to attend some than none!
We'll discuss topics like:
 - Equipment & "Around the House" Equipment Alternatives
 - The role of Breath and Focus in Yoga
 - Yoga Poses: Over the course of the 5 days, you'll follow-along as I break down over 35 individual poses!  We'll discuss proper alignment and self-assists for each pose.
 - I'll ALSO teach you modifications & intensifications so that you can customize the pose according to what YOUR body needs!
 - The beauty of the style of Yoga I'll be teaching you:  EVERY POSE IS CUSTOMIZABLE, WHICH IS WHY I SAY E-V-E-R-Y-BODY CAN DO YOGA! You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to have balance. You don't need to be a certain age or gender or weight.
 - Trust me, YOU ARE READY & YOU CAN DO THIS, let me show you how!
 - Each class is follow-along style, so be ready to move. Your amount of movement will increase each day!

What to expect from a Live/Online Yoga Class:
Classes are taught through Zoom, so that I can see you and you can see me.
It's important that I'm able to see you - never, ever will I judge a student; my intention is purely to help.  Unlike a pre-recorded class, I can offer individualized instruction through Zoom.  If I see you're struggling to get into a pose, I can suggest modifications specific to your body. I can also offer intensifications for those ready to explore what else is possible!

Why join a Live/Online Class instead of watching a pre-recorded video?
There are a variety of reasons, but I'm going to narrow it down to the biggest two.....

  1. COMMUNITY/CONNECTION:
During this time of isolation, it's important to connect with others in anyway we can!  Whether you're beginning or continuing your journey into Yoga, your presence is a value to everyone else in the class. Beginner yogis can see what's possible from practiced yogis; practiced yogis can be reminded of the importance of foundation by beginners. For this very reason the ideal class is not just one skill or experience level, but rather a mix.

  2. ACCOUNTABILITY:
Let's face it - we are simply better at following through on a commitment when it's in writing or on the calendar. With my Yoga classes you'll be registering for a specific date and time, which increases the likelihood that you'll participate. (As opposed to "oh I should do yoga this afternoon....")
Want to up your probability of follow-through? INVITE A FRIEND!

According to the American Society of Training and Development:

  • Consciously deciding TO achieve a goal increases your chances from 10% to 25%.

  • By choosing WHEN and HOW to achieve the goal, your chances of succeeding become 50%.

  • By sharing your goal WITH someone, you stretch your probability of success to 65%!
